One of the best things about having my Momma’s Bacon hobby is being able to meet wonderful parents who create products with the intent to empower the lives of our children. I got to know Kathryn Cloward through her Natural Kidz e-commerce website that offers all-natural eco-friendly products for families before discovering her Kathryn the Grape products. Kathryn’s passion of showcasing all-natural products led to my discovery of her Mom’s Choice award-winning children’s books that have a mission to help build self esteem and teach important life lessons to kids. Kathryn the Grape is a series for kids that offer positive affirmations through the cartoon character, Kathryn, and her magical butterfly friend, Maggie. In the book, Just Like Magic! Maggie helps Kathryn discover that each person has an inner strength and fearlessness. Kathryn is the new kid in school and learns the importance of making friends and helping others. In Kathryn’s second adventure book, Kathryn the Grape’s Colorful Adventure, children read about how to let their colorful light shine. At the beginning of the book, an upset Kathryn feels her mom loves her brothers more than her (She made hamburgers for dinner! She knows Kathryn hates hamburgers!) but learns through the wisdom of her friend Maggie, who uses the colors of a rainbow as an example, that it is important to understand and express your feelings. I love the lesson about how each child can learn to do the following: to belong, get excited, trust yourself, love your family, say your feelings, see what you want in your mind and being open to learning new experiences. Now that is a colorful person! All of these lessons tie nicely to the lyrics of the Kathryn the Grape pop music CD entitled Believe. This fun and danceable CD has positive lyrics great for the whole family. Check it out!
