Product Review:  I Am Your Mother (a picture book of animal mothers and babies) [Kindle Edition]

I will carry you.  I will comfort you.  I will encourage you.  I will feed you.  I will hold you.  I will hug you.

I love my Kindle (oh, I do love it!) which was a Christmas gift from my father-in-law (thanks, dad!) and it was just a matter of time before I used it to read a children’s book with my daughter.  I had only used my Kindle for my own (aka non-children) books that I read at night and haven’t got any digital books for Brooke until now.  We really enjoy reading our paperback and hardcover books with Brooke as she sits in our lap and turns pages, but I know the digital age is here and the information we have at our fingertips is amazing.  Plus the cost of Kindle digital books are at a discount on top of ‘borrowing’ books through the Amazon Prime Program means that the books I usually read are free.  It is hard to argue with ‘free’!  I imagine that by the time Brooke is in high school or college, paper books may become more difficult to purchase and our book collection will probably be displayed by our vinyl record collection in our family room as our own personal family museum of communication and entertainment that were once in vogue.  I will try (*sniff sniff*) not to mourn the paper print passing out of fashion and look at digital books as a new way to bring learning and reading to the masses.  I wanted my first Kindle children’s book review to also be a tribute to Mother’s Day with the special Kindle book edition of I Am Your Mother.

I Am Your Mother is a very touching book for a mother to read to her child (especially this Mother’s Day!) because it nicely demonstrates the love and relationship that a mother has for her babies.  The text is encouraging and simplistic and the photographic illustrations of animals with their young works well with younger children who love animals.  Mother’s Day is a day to honor mothers and this book shows us why parents are such a huge force in our children’s lives.  We, as parents, set the positive tone in our relationships with our children through demonstrating, teaching, sharing, snuggling and encouraging our children on a daily basis which all comes down to this extremely important message for our children.  I will always love you, my child, yesterday, today, tomorrow, forever and always.  Because I am your mother.  Happy Mother’s Day, Mommas!  I love you, mom!
