Product Review: Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones [Hardcover] (Age 2+)
The sun paints the sky a warm, glowing red. It’s time to stop playing, it’s time for bed
My sister-in-law, a wonderful aunty, was a high school friend of mine before becoming a relative. If I had to label us, I’d say when we met at fourteen and fifteen we immediately clicked since we were part of the ‘weirdo tree-hugger’ group in school and likely friends. She was always an awesome comrade in causes and efforts (as late teens we had an official meeting with our college president Glidden of Ohio University for our own University organization we created!) plus she helped me land my first gig as an I.G.A. deli girl. Priceless! Her environmentalist obsession of old has carried Suzanne to make a career out of making maps and performing spatial analysis (and making models) of environmental contamination at different kinds of sites across the country and she works with such clients as the Navy and NASA as well as working with engineers to develop plans for remediation. She is also an awesome aunty to Brooke and, strange enough, they share the same birthday! The birthday thing is extra funky since Brooke was born a month early. It is no wonder that Suzanne always picks the coolest gifts for Brooke and right now our household favorite for night time story time is a gift from her aunt, Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones.
Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones is the perfect bedtime story for your young ones since it depicts many desert animals getting ready for bed. The lovely, watercolor illustrations show different exotic animals with a beautiful outdoor background of a setting sun. Lovely. The book also has a nice rhyming scheme. I love being able to point out the different animals with Brooke like the antelope and leopard. My favorite page is the cute momma with her little porcupines who are snuggling up and getting ready to go to sleep. This book was a perfect gift for a toddler and one we will continue to enjoy and read for years to come. Thanks aunty!
