Product Review: Photo Language Cards Go Togethers (Age 3+)
Great Teaching Tools to Help Kids Build Early Language Skills
I was so excited when Brooke learned the meaning of the word ‘same’ and she made me aware she was starting to understand the relationship between objects. As a self professed ‘chatterbox’, building Brooke’s communication skills from an early age was very important to me. I discovered the really awesome Go Togethers Language Cards as a nice teaching tool to help kids build early language skills and wanted to do a review for my readers.
The Go Togethers cards from Smethport are forty cards that can be paired into twenty pairs with their related object card. The child is to use thinking and reasoning skills in order to match up pairs like a picture of a toothbrush with the picture of toothpaste. The cards come in a nice tin case and the photo cards are made out thick-coated card stock with full color photographs. The Activity Guide demonstrates three different ways to play games with the cards; My Match, Memory or Fish. All in all it is a fun, simple and visually appealing matching game to play with your young ones.
About Smethport and Patch Products: Smethport gets their name from the city of Smethport, PA where Ralph Herzog and William Kerr started their toy company in 1923 as Marvel Specialty Co with their first magnet set product. You may know them through their popular Wooly Willy magnetic grinding drawing toy that was first produced in the 1950s and you can purchase in toy retailers in the United States today (and you can now even get Wooly Willy as an iPhone App!). It was Smethport that acquired the Lauri® Toy Company in 2003 (see my earlier review of their Tall Stacker Pegset for a product recommendation) and in 2008 Smethport and Lauri joined the awesome family of the seriously fun Patch Products!
