Product Review: Your Own Big Bed [Hardcover] (Age 2+)

Product Review:  Your Own Big Bed [Hardcover] (Age 2+)

They are all getting bigger and bigger – and so are you!

If you are looking for a gentle and positive book for your toddler about their upcoming transition to a big bed, I think you will be very pleased with Your Own Big Bed byRita Bergstein.  This book is a fun celebration of growing older and talks about lots of different animals who get too big for their beds and how they move on to a better fit.  It ties this concept in nicely at the end of the book for a child when it talks about moving to your own big bed after outgrowing a crib.

I think Your Own Big Bed is a perfect ‘big bed’ concept introduction for every child because it explains that all animals grow and we all experience these new changes in life.  It takes a practical and non-scary approach to commemorate this change to a big bed and make it exciting.  The illustrations by Susan Kathleen Hartung are so beautiful and Brooke especially loves seeing the page with the little bunny sleeping in her burrow.  Your Own Big Bed book and our little toddler travel cot (perhaps a product review of the cot can be forthcoming if readers are interested?) have worked wonders at making this big bed transition a positive topic and experience for Brooke.  I hope for the same happy ‘big bed’ experience for you and your child.

About Viking Children’s Books:  Viking Children’s Books was founded in 1933 and has published such children’s classic books as The Story of Ferdinand, Pippi Longstocking and Madeline.  If you want a great classic Viking Children’s book recommendation, try reading Make Way for Ducklings for your little one about ducklings needing help crossing a busy street to their new home.  It has gorgeous pictures and a touching story.

    • Thanks so much for your comment! The great thing about books is you can usually test drive them courtesy of your local library! I do hope it helps. I am also doing an upcoming review about a product that helps those kids who have trouble sleeping, so stay tuned for that.
