Product Review: Today I Ate A Rainbow Kit (3+)
Healthy Kids Eat Rainbows!
I bring you a product from our friends up north, O Canada! That’s right, my readers, I do not exclude a great non-U.S.A. product if it is an awesome product for our kids. I feel if we close our minds to only a limited stream of products, we will miss something really helpful and fantastic and the Today I Ate a Rainbow Kit is a great product with a great message to eat healthy. Plus, who doesn’t want to eat a rainbow?
I will admit I am a junk food junkie. I love candy, chocolate especially, and I drink caffeine every single day with an emphasis on the word every. When I was pregnant with Brooke you would have thought I was allergic to sugar and caffeine, but somehow after my initial maternity leave honeymoon phase I returned not only to work, but also to my bad eating habits. My daughter is still young and she does not entirely get the fact that before she gets up or after she goes to bed, momma has already downed a gallon of coffee and sugar. I decided to try Today I Ate a Rainbow Kit not only for my daughter, but also for me. I want my daughter to eat healthy, but I know our children learn from watching us. I can tell her to eat healthy, but what good does it do if I am sucking down a Mountain Dew (a particular weakness of mine) at the same time I tell her to eat her celery? I need the motivation as much as she does.
The Today I Ate A Rainbow Kit is the perfect motivational starter pack to get your kids excited to eat healthy on a daily basis through eating different colors in a variety of fruits and vegetables. The chart can be placed on your refrigerator with the included set of magnets to chart the daily colors eaten. There are four different shaped colored magnets sets to track up to four kids (or an adult or two) of their daily intake of rainbows. Rewards of achievement magnets are can be placed at the end of the chart when a rainbow has been eaten for the day. The kit also includes a color coded shopping list so that kids and parents can make sure a rainbow of colors are purchased during grocery shopping to help in achieving the rainbow eating goal. The set also includes a paperback book called The Rainbow Bunch that is a rhyming children’s book geared for ages 2-5. The five cartoon children discuss and demonstrate the importance of eating our daily fruits and vegetables that is perfect for a young child. I found this to be such a cute way to motivate our whole family into eating healthy and I agree with their slogan that this kit has the tools to turn healthy eating into a fun challenge for kids and adults alike.
