“Phineas McBoof Crashes the Symphony” features Grammy-winning opera stars Isabel Leonard and Nathan Gunn. It’s a two-act, screwball musical comedy, complete with fast, zany repartee, where the leading characters have over-the-top dramatic ranges combined with vocal chops that open one’s ears to what real singing with resonance and amazing projection is all about. Embedded into this musical adventure is a great deal of information about orchestration, instrumentation, music history, Beethoven, sonata form, popular song structure, and more.

“Phineas McBoof Crashes the Symphony” is an easy-on-the ears album that bring kids in the wonderful world of the symphony through a silly monkey conductor. It’s unlike everything I have ever heard and I thought it was quite bold to include the element of silliness and play with several minute ballads and songs about robots. Someone it all works together with the song line-up and there are plenty of online and educational content to inspire children into different worlds on music. The song “Banana” is also a smash hit on Sirius XM Kids radio, so I imagine there will be more songs in the future for families to love and explore this platform. Awesome!
