Diana Panton “I Believe in Little Things” (Music for Families)
2016 album from the Juno-winning Canadian performer.
Diana Panton is a Canadian jazz singer who won the 2015 JUNO Award (Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy) for Best Vocal Jazz Album for her adult album, RED. I Believe in Little Things is Diana’s first album for families. It’s a carefully curated anthology of under-appreciated gems and a collection of classic children’s masterpieces from Disney, Sesame Street, Willy Wonka, and more. Lovely, beautiful, and magical were the first adjectives that came to mind to describe the songs as I listened to this album with my own family.
I Believe in Little Things highlights Diana Panton’s enchanting vocals on obscure gems and children’s classics with a unique jazz twist. Don Thompson, Reg Schwager and Coenraad Bloemendal provide delightful accompaniment to Diana’s sweet voice. Although destined for children, this album speaks to the child in all of us. There is a carefree aura of freedom and hope in this gentle musical world where dreams can come true.
