Brooke, our kindergartner, has a wonderful and funny sense of humor. Sometimes I know just what will make her laugh, but sometimes she surprises me on what makes her giggle out loud. We have always read a lot of books together and between her school books and library books, we always have new ones that we get to discover together on a daily basis. When we read Lazy Dave, she thought it was the most hilarious book we have read in days.
Lazy Dave is about a sleep walking dog that does amazing things as he is catching his ZZZs and Brooke couldn’t stop smiling. The funniest thing? Dave’s owner Lilly has NO IDEA Dave is even leaving the house. She thinks her dog (who she loves) is quite lazy. Dave’s adventures take him to outer space, winning races, and even catching a criminal – all while fast asleep. All the while, Dave’s owner, Lilly, is at school and is none the wiser. This is a hilarious read for youngsters and we enjoyed reading it many times. It’s one that stands out just by being completely silly and absurd, which is perfect since that means it is a big hit in our house. Hey, whatever gets the kids reading and enjoying books is an awesome book to me!
