I still get an uneasy feeling when I remember the first time I took baby Brie and Brooke to the children’s museum after Brie was born. Brooke was a very rambunctious three and a half year old who seemed to run wherever she went. We were on the second floor of the Austin Thinkery by the infant play area and I had just told Brooke we would go to the first floor glow-in-the-dark area that she loved next. In what seemed like seconds, Brooke decided she wanted to go NOW and took off running in to a sea of people while I had Brie in her stroller and filled with panic. It was only a matter of minutes before I was able to get to her on the first floor having fun with shadows, but it felt like hours when I couldn’t visibly see her. When we just had Brooke it was easy to make sure she always stuck close but with a new baby it could be a challenge at times. I did not know how fast and scary it was to lose sight of your child, even if its just for a small period of time.
If you live in Austin, you are always in crowds when you leave the house and now that we have a kindergartener and another energetic toddler, it’s good to take measures to always keep track of our girls. We like going to events with the whole family and I love the My BuddyTag waterproof safety and tracking device system that comes with a free app (with no monthly fees!) you can use on your cell phone. There are a few ways to accessorize the BuddyTag, but our favorite is the adjustable (up to 7″) silicone wristband that you can have your child wear as a bracelet, or with little ones, I like to hook them on shoes. It’s so simple to use and while we haven’t had to use the system besides testing it out, it gives us a nice peace of mind to know that, if we need to, I can locate them quickly on my cell. While Brooke has grown out of her running off phase (thank goodness!) we are still in the toddler stages with Brooke so we are prepared!
The BuddyTag Silicone Wristband
This wristband is comfortable and adjustable to fit most child’s wrist size. The custom designed coin screw closure secures the silicone wristband on your child’s wrist to prevent easy removal. The backside of each wristband includes a white strip for personal ID, which can be easily added with a regular pen or a Sharpie. BuddyTag™ is designed to work with the iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus and Samsung S3, S4, S5, S6, Note2, Note3 and Note4 with Android version 4.3 and newer. BuddyTag™ is also compatible with the 4th Generation iPad, iPad Air, iPad Air2, iPad Mini, and the 5th Generation iPod Touch. Each package comes with a BuddyTag™ and a color matching Silicone Wristband as a complete set using Bluetooth technology.
