I have never regretted keeping up with memory books for my girls, but different books are not created equally. With my first daughter, her baby book actually encompassed the first FIVE (gulp! FIVE!) years of her life. My second daughter’s book only spans her first year of life and, by that time, I was grateful that I could actually not have to worry about it after she turned one. Whew! But – there were so many things from Brooke’s extensive book that I really liked and wanted to document for Brie that I ended up adding to Brie’s book. Your baby’s first year is precious with new memories created every day and if you don’t write them down or capture the moment, it is easy to forget.
I am really impressed with Parragon Books Baby’s Record Book called “Cute as a Button”. I love all the fill-in-the-blank pages that parents fill out and there is so much space to add pictures and storage for mementos. The illustrations are adorable and my favorite pages are ones that mommy and daddy get to fill out from picking baby names to letters to their baby. The book has a gender neutral tone and made on a beautiful canvas that captures the mother’s pregnancy until baby turns one. I love all the room for keepsakes, fun facts to add and a wonderful family tree page as well as a space to tell baby all of your hopes and dreams for them.

I am so glad that I have baby books for both my girls and I do think doing one for your child is a must. I still reference mine from time to time and it’s a great way to keep paperwork together. I am excited for my girls to inherit their books when they are adults and I do hope they continue the tradition if they have their own kids!
