I Like It When…/Me gusta cuando is not a new board book, but it is a great board book I had to tell you about as a suggestion for your own personal library. I love that Brie’s school incorporates Spanish and American Sign Language into her day and I try and do my part to encourage learning at home. I am always on the look out for bilingual Spanish/English books for our kiddos and this one is perfect for young children. The suggested age range is 2-3 years, but I always think it is a good idea to start reading to your child from day one, so go ahead and read to your newborns! Each page is filled with a parent and baby penguin (it doesn’t actually say their genders) hanging out and doing normal activities throughout the day. There is a page for lunch time where the parent penguin tells little penguin, “I like it when we eat new things.” or Spanish translation, “Me gusta cuando comemos algo nuevo.” It takes you until nighttime where the last page is of parent and baby penguin saying they love each other before bed. It is an adorable bilingual book and since it shows everyday tasks, you can repeat the words in both Spanish and English to your child throughout the day to help with language learning. Perfecto!
