Laurie Berkner’s Six Remastered themed albums for kids available for digital download!

I get so excited about children’s music! Reviewing music for families is exceptionally easy for me. Why? Well, I can think of a number of reasons. Yes, I’m a wanna-be singer/songwriter in a ‘perfect life scenario’. Yes, my mom played guitar and sang for my brother and sister and I when we were kids. Constantly. Yes, I was her musical sidekick where we would perform for families and crowds (including music and movement songs!) whenever asked since I was young. Yes, I had my own band in high school and college until I had to start a career after my studies, but I still live vicariously through music. Yes, I have two young kids who absolutely love music as much as I do. I guess when you add it all up, it equals the love I have to continuously incorporate music into my children’s lives because that passion certainly carried through into my adulthood.

So, I’ve been reviewing children’s music on my blog for about – oh – four years now and it never gets old. It has been really exciting to see artists we love get recognition. One of my favorite examples is Laurie Berkner. Although she has been jamming with her band for years, we saw her skyrocket in fame when she started to appear in Nick Jr. videos and is now featured regularly on Sprout in a feature called ‘Sing It Laurie’. We have been a fan of Laurie Berkner’s music since her Christmas album, A Laurie Berkner Christmas (see my past reviews here and here and here) and we have been soaking up her songs ever since.

For those who don’t know Laurie, she is a former preschool music teacher who became an indie rocker extraordinaire overnight. She began selling her music over ten years ago on her own independent label, Two Tomatoes Records. Her songs are catchy, fun and her musical talent backs up her love of making music for children. She has a crystal clear voice and her songs are perfect for preschoolers and young children. If you haven’t been keeping up with Laurie’s music, you are in luck because she has recently released SIX of her previous albums that have been remastered and ready for digital download through Amazon or iTunes! WOWSA! You and your preschooler can catch up and love her music as much as we do!

Our favorite of the bunch is her album called “Animal Songs“. Brie is really into making animal sounds right now and this album is chock full of them. Brooke loves to get her sister to sing with her, so it sort of sounds like a barnyard around here when we play this album. Quite hilarious. I’ll include the track listing below.
