Ralph Covert celebrates literacy and imagination with new album based on his children’s books; he performs at more than 30 libraries and festivals this summer

Ralph Covert (aka Ralph’s World) has been a publisher of children’s books for over a decade and has dove into the world of kindie music. Ralph’s latest album, Ralph’s World Rocks, is a collection of songs from his previous picture books with a few new bonus tracks. Covert’s books Ralph’s World Rocks (Holt, 2008) and Me and My Animal Friends (Holt, 2009) has many fantastic songs coming straight out of the book’s backs. Not only has Ralph dabbled in music and book, he also created an original musical version of his children’s musical, The Nutty Nutcracker, and the song, “Welcome To Christmas Wood” originally appears in the album as well as re-imagined picture books through Chronicle (Chronicle Books, 2009). In between his busy creative endeavor, Covert also because a GRAMMY-nominated songwriter when his Green Gorilla, Monster, and Me album inspired such classics like “Old Red #7. Whew! That’s certainly a lot of wonderful information and a great introduction of all the things Ralph Covert can do!

Ralph’s other recent projects: Ralph is working on a new album called Ralph’s World: Time Machine Guitar, a rock ‘n roll adventure across history, featuring Ralph, kids and puppet pals.bbThe pilot (available on DVD) debuted on WTTW TV in Chicago, and the Ralph’s World creative team is developing plans for a full season. One song from the special, “Follow the Leader and Dance,” is also included on Ralph’s World Rocks and Reads.
