Mornings for parents with little children who need to get off to school are pretty hectic. OK, so they are hectic in my house, so I’m just going to assume it’s the same everywhere. With smaller kids like my toddler, I have to get her ready completely while for my older daughter the almost-kindergartener I am more of a gentle prodding and sometimes assisting morning routine goalie. When I say ‘gentle’, I do mean it. It’s my goal to not yell or stress in the morning and it takes a lot of energy to stick with it. I have learned to plan things out like putting out clothes the night before to getting backpacks on the hook by the front door after dinner. One of the morning crunches is to get food on the table when I realized I should have a better solution for my oldest who is perfectly capable of getting cereal for herself, especially on rushed mornings. Brooke has a very independent streak and she wants to do things for herself as much as possible and, darn it, sometimes she doesn’t want a muffin or whatever else it is I’m making that morning. I did a lot of researching for the perfect dry food ‘cereal’ dispenser that works great for little children and came upon this DUAL option product from a company called Zevro. I was impressed with the reviews (yes, as a reviewer, I do read a lot of them!) and loved that Brooke could not only easily and conveniently make a bowl of cereal by herself, she could actually choose between two types of her favorite cereal as a bonus. I already loved the idea before we could even test it out and I waited anxiously for the dispenser to arrive.
The Zevro Dual Dry Food Dispenser is a convenient storage and portion control dispenser for a variety of dry foods. While you can use it for things like trail mix, granola, beans, rice, candy, etc., we have exclusively used it for Brooke’s morning cereal. This is the perfect product for parents with children who can serve themselves breakfast and the containers are designed to preserve the food’s freshness for up to 45 days. It is so easy to use and with a quick twist the dispenser sends out around one ounce of cereal which is perfect. Each canister holds 17.5 ounces of dry food, which just happens to be the average size of a box of cereal! The dispenser itself weighs only 4.5 pounds and just over 16 inches tall, which is still heavy and big enough to want to keep at a low level for smaller children to access easily. Another bonus is that the product comes with a limited manufacturing 90-day warranty. While function and ease-of-use were the key requirements I had for a food dispenser, it doesn’t hurt that the Zevro product looks sleek and modern and, well, cool, in our kitchen.
Tip! For parents who may actually be able to SLEEP in on a Saturday (gasp!), I recommend getting a small creamer dispenser for the refrigerator so your child can pour the milk for themselves, too.
