Happy World UFO Day (July 2, 2105)!  While I certainly fostered Brooke’s love of outer space when she was a baby and toddler, she has since let her imagination grow wild.  She can’t get enough of stories about aliens and UFOs and our galaxy and we love to have her tell us her funny stories filled with life outside our planet.  Dinosaur O’Dell (better known to his fans as “Dino”), a children’s musician, educator and storyteller based in Kansas City, is releasing a brand new book about his lovable character, Zar, in honor of this special day.

Zar is a hip alien who is featured in a new 36 page, full color, hard cover picture book called Zar and the Broken Spaceship.  Dino is a former elementary and drama teacher and has since become a notable award-winning children’s musician. His shows feature interactive songs and tall tales that engage curiosity and Zar is a popular character in one of his songs.  His new book is meant to be read-aloud and be interactive with your child.  The story is about three friends who are walking in a park when they find a spaceship that has crashed into Earth.  The team helps the three-eyed, green alien fix their ship while learning about space, a foreign space language and how working together the friends are able to accomplish a huge feat.  The illustrations, Uruguayan artist Santiago Germano, are colorful and fun and the book is a wonderful way to engage your child with things that are out of this universe!
