Recess Monkey is an acclaimed family music band from Seattle, but they think you’re pretty acclaimed too.
The three-person elementary school teacher band from Seattle entitled Recess Monkey is back again for a new summer album release just in time for summer called HOT AIR! This marks the group’s 12th album (wow) and they are gearing up for their usual summer break tour.
New album release drops June 16th!
I can’t help but compare the nod to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in the opening song “Hot Air Prelude” by the new Recess Monkey Hot Air. I have probably heard that album all the way through at least 5,000 times! It is my absolute favorite, so when I hear the opening song, there is a bit of “A Day in the Life”-esque mixed with “Lovely Rita” to the fun of “Being the Benefit of Mr. Kite!” that I’m immediately drawn into the fun, creative genius that The Beatles captured in that mind-blowing album and have high expectations. Luckily, the trio of Drew, Jack and Korum, who are teachers in Seattle during the school year and touring family rock musicians during the summer, are able to keep up the pace and offer a delightful mix of high energy and hilarious lyrics aimed towards kids and the people who brought them into this world.
Kid’s music is not just for kids and their summer tours are just as popular for the adults as it is for their offspring.
