Brie is at an age where she is talking up a storm and we can actually understand some/most of what she is saying! I love it. It’s hilarious when she starts saying small sentences that I say a lot to her like, “Here you go!” or “I love you”, which, granted, sounds more like ‘iwuvyooo’, but still oh so cute. We started doing little shapes and color puzzles with her a few months back and they have been a hit. It is the awesome repetition that helps children learn at this age and when I saw the Early Learning Colors and Shapes Monkey by The Learning Journey, I thought it would be an upscale toy for colors and shapes right up our youngest daughter’s alley.

The Early Learning Colors and Shapes Monkey is a talking colorful toy narrated by an adorable monkey that Brie just loves. When you put Mr. Monkey in an on position in one of the two modes, he will talk to your child when they press each button. There is a mode for ‘shapes and colors’ and a mode for ‘play’, so when your child presses on a specific shape/color, they get to hear the name. Over. And Over. And Over. You will start to hear this little monkey’s voice in your sleep, but it is well worth the time and interaction your child has with learning from repeating the names. In the ‘play’ mode, the monkey will play different kid-friendly melodies and light up when each button is pressed. Brie loves that the buttons flash so she is enticed to keep playing. The Monkey requires two AA batteries and to cut down on energy drain, the Colors & Shapes Monkey also has a built-in auto shut-off. Awesome toy for children ages eighteen months and up.
