For those who know Bob and I personally, you will see this gallon jug of hot sauce and know this is the perfect gift for my husband! At one time Bob was even making his own hot sauces at our house and made lots of interesting batches for us to taste. Fun Facts about Tabasco!
- Born in 1868. That’s right, Tabasco is 147 years old this year!
- It’s made in the USA. Avery Island, Louisiana, to be exact.
- Tabasco was first made in cologne bottles.
- Edmund McIlhenny, a Maryland-born former banker (who moved to LA in 1840) was the first producer of the sauce.
- Tabasco brand is still made by the McIlhenny Company started by Edmund!
- McIlhenny received a royal warrant of appointment that certifies the company as a supplier to Queen Elizabeth II. Yes, the royals eat Tabasco, too!
