Dian Fossey was to gorillas what Jane Goddall was to chimpanzees. Fossey spent over 18 years doing an extensive study of gorillas in their natural habitat in Rwanda until her brutal murder in 1985 at the age of 53. Although Fossey died tragically and her murder case is still open, her life continues to spark and promote interest in the conservation and protection of gorillas in Africa. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International is continuing her path of education, research and preservation of gorillas through education, health, training and development initiatives.
All Indy Plushes are made in Los Angeles, California!
Indy Plush is proudly partnered with Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International and is dedicated to making plush toys with a conscience. Mountain Gorillas are peaceful, gentle, social, and mostly vegetarian creatures that are endangered. A Mountain Gorillas diet consists of plants with some insects and worms. They live in forests and the more lightweight gorillas will nest in trees.
Indy Plush’s Baby Mountain Gorilla plush may look ferocious, but like the mountain gorillas in Africa, it is all for show. These adorable plushes are stuffed with 100% recycled plastic bottles with sustainable fabrics. They make wonderful snuggle buddies and a percentage of each purchase is donated to the Dian Fossey foundation. This is a great way to talk to your children about the importance of purchasing eco-friendly and sustainable products that also give back. If your kids were not familiar with mountain gorillas before getting their Indy Plush, you will find that they will be mini-experts, little Dians, if you will, before long! In this new found love interest, Indy Plush also has an entire line of mountain gorilla products available for purchase on their website here.
About Baby Mountain Gorillas: My species was scientifically identified in 1902. I have longer denser hair than lowland gorillas. This helps me cope with cooler temperatures at higher elevations. I am vegetarian and my favorite food is fruit! I rarely drink water because I obtain all the moisture I need from the plants I eat. There are fewer than 900 Mountain Gorillas in the wild today. Charity! Dian Fossey foundation receives a 20% donation on each gorilla toy, shirt and zip hoodie purchase from Indy Plush. Visit gorillafund.org to learn more.
