The Next Great Step in Reusables -Preserve 2 Go by Preserve
The Preserve® 2 Go is on the leading edge of a move to reusables.
Reusable bags have significantly gained popularity and reusable drink containers are enabling consumers to move away from disposable cups. With the Preserve® 2 Go line, Preserve is changing the culture of single-use disposables. Preserve has created a reusable food storage container made for the food industry that is made from 50% recycled materials and can be reused over 300 times. The container is sturdy, closes tightly and has three separate compartments for food on-the-go. Wow!

Q&A with Holly Fowler (Food Services Division Manager) from Preserve:
1. I love the re-usable container line especially when you consider how much people do take-out at restaurants. Preserve 2 Go could be overlooked by the restaurant industry due to the initial price tag. How does Preserve 2 Go save the restaurant industry money in the long run?
Preserve 2 Go has been designed specifically with the food services industry in mind, though it’s receiving a very positive response from individual consumers as well. Institutional dining facilities and restaurants are both large generators of single-use packaging waste, much of which serves a function for a very limited amount of time (eg. the time it takes to drink a drink or consume a meal). Like other reusables, the Preserve 2 Go helps offset both packaging costs and waste tipping fees over the course of 300+ uses.
2. Take out containers have come a long way. How does Preserve 2 Go compare to the recyclable paper to go boxes being used by some restaurants?
“Reduce, re-use, recycle” isn’t just a handy phrase, it’s a hierarchy. The Preserve 2 Go is the only reusable container of its kind on the market that is made with recycled #5 PP and is manufactured in the United States. Fiber based alternatives are difficult to recycle due to food contamination and composting these, when that is an option, is just one step above landfilling.
3. Are these to go boxes easy to recycle once the life of the box has been utilized?
The Preserve 2 Go is 100% recyclable by any system accepting #5 plastics. If dropped off at one of 300+ Gimme 5 locations, these will be reunited with Preserve’s supply chain and become the handle for a future Preserve toothbrush or razor.
4. Has Preserve worked with any restaurants as a pilot for the Preserve 2 Go as a to go box? If so, what were the results?
Several universities are already using the Preserve 2 Go and we are having conversations with other institutions and restaurants, who want to increase their sustainability performance with the introduction of the Preserve 2 Go.
Thanks so much for your time and information, Holly!
