Kids Car Seat Protector by Brolly
I hate potty training with a passion, but I did learn a lot of dos and don’ts from our first go-around with Brooke, so the hope is this current transition to underwear will be a lot easier for Brie and us. We will see!
Here are a few things I did the last time that proved useful:
- Read lots of big kid stories about going to the potty.
- Only keep the potty books in the bathroom. It was fun to only be able to read the books on the potty and made it special.
- Sing songs, like the dreaded “Potty Song”, or make up a song about bowel movements for when your child is using the potty. Even Bob made one up for Brooke although it involved the words ‘pinching a loaf’, but she loved it! Ha.
- Stickers for ‘no accident’ weeks. Call it a bribe, I guess, but it worked!
- Saying things like ‘great job!’ for going on the potty is encouraging.
- Have your child use the potty right before bedtime and keep a nightlight in the bathroom so they have a clear path!
