Mantry the #1 Food Subscription for Men (Father’s Day Pick!)

Food of the Month Club for the Modern Man’s Pantry

My husband is not the easiest person to shop for and every Father’s Day I wrack my brain to find the perfect gift.  Father’s Day is such a special occasion as my husband takes his daddy duties quite seriously and even became a stay at home dad for four years before returning to the workforce.  If there is one thing that Bob loves the most besides his family, it has to be FOOD.  He loves to cook, make special dishes and if there is something new on the market he has to try, he will.  When I learned about Mantry (The Modern Man’s Pantry), an American Artisan food-of-the-month club, I knew this would be a winner.

A Manty box is a really awesome way for a man to receive a curated selection of premium, full-sized food products every month.  Each month you receive a new delivery of exciting food each with a different original theme (i.e. Bourbon Breakfast or Hecho en America).  Mantry’s simple mission to bring exciting and food experiences just for men every month is a perfect gift for the men in your life who see the culinary experience as more than just a way to satiate themselves.  A Mantry is for a man who believes in artisan foods that delivers high quality in their products.

Mantry1  Each month the Matry arrives in an awesome crate!

Each Mantry contains delicious recipes that are included as well as having them posted on their website here. Want to make Asparagus & Absinthe Vinaigrette or Butter Masla Naanwich?  Mantry’s crates are the perfect remedy to your food and culinary cravings.

You can purchase subscriptions in three or six month increments or even try a one month box to test it out.  I decided to do just that for Bob’s special Father’s Day gift and see what he thought.  I couldn’t wait for the crate to arrive and I did not have to wait long.  For month to month subscribers, your Mantry arrives in the last week of every month. If you buy a gift subscription, your first Mantry will ship the next business day, and about the same day every month thereafter for the duration of the gift purchased.  Fantastic!

So what did Bob think?

He loved it!  I mean, he absolutely loved this box.  First, I was really good and didn’t say a word about the Mantry coming, so when it did, Bob was like, “What’s this?!?”  This month’s theme was absolutely perfect for us, since it was called ‘Taco Truck’.  This has AUSTIN written all over it.  In fact, it even had an Austin product in it!  Say what?  Yup.  Bob was, of course, thrilled with this gift and immediately started tearing through his new goodies.

Here is the rundown of the Mantry’s Taco Truck package;

1.  Yellowbird Habanero Sauce (Made in Austin, TX)

Of course, I have to start out with the Austin product.  This savory salsa has the perfect mixture of heat with bright fruity undertones of tangerine and lime.  Try this on tacos or mix to make the perfect Yellowbird Michelada.  Check out their wide variety of all-natural, spicy pepper condiments made with love right here in A-town.  Check out their website for where to purchase locally, including the fab Tears of Joy store.

2.  Deano’s Jalapeños Chips (Made in Hardwick, VT)

Chips made out of jalapeños?   Oh my, delicious!  Jalapeños are sliced thin, fried and lightly dusted with all-natural cheddar.  Crunch them up to put on your favorite breakfast taco or eat right out of the bag.  They are scrumptious.

3.  Pernicious Picking Co. Pickled Red Onions (Made in Costa Mesa, CA)

I take it Bob is not the only man who loves anything pickled.  Pickled eggs, pickled cauliflower and now he has tried (what he claims) is the best canned pickled onions he has ever eaten (besides his own).  Guys must love their veggies mixed with vinegar and what is better than pickled onions?  Pickled onions fried with taco meat, of course.

4.  Mexican Hot Chocolate Walnuts by Old Dog Ranch (Made in Bellota, CA)

The first time I tried Mexican Hot Chocolate I thought I had died and went to heaven.  That stuff is wicked delicious.  Mix that in with delectable Suan Juaquin county walnuts and you have a yummy, cinnamony, tasty treat.  We call it ‘healthy’ because of all that omega-3 goodness, so feel free to eat these buttery and slightly spicy (thanks to a pinch of cayenne) up!

5.  Mojo Jerky by Savage Jerky Co. (Made in Lawrenceville, GA)

I have yet to meet a man who loves his jerky more than Bob.  He was once on a mission to try every single type of jerky that ever existed and I believe he must have gotten close.  Jerky is Bob’s road trip staple and it must be another man thing.  This mojo jerky is made with tasty beef jerky with a kick of lime and cilantro.  Me gusta mucho.

6.  Mole Poblano by Hernan (Made in Del Rio, TX)

I tried mole for the first time here in Austin, Texas back in 2001 and the sweet and savory blend of chiles and chocolate is a real winner.  That’s not all that’s in mole, in fact, making this sauce is an art form itself and I think north of the border, you can’t find a better state to eat it than Texas.  This mole can be used as a dip, with simmered cooked chicken (which I recommend) or even for your own taco filling.

Have you been good this year, fathers?

The Mantry box not only met my high expectations, it actually exceeded them and this makes a perfect gift for any guy in your life who loves FOOD.  The Taco Truck box was like a match made in heaven for Austin, Texas native and food-loving Bob.  He got to try a wonderful assortment of new food products and, being the chef that he is, was able to make items with them for his own homemade taco truck.  We all won out, even the girls!  Who knew that picky Brie would actually love mole?  That was impressive.  If you want a father’s day recommendation from me this year, you are going to hear one word very fast; MANTRY.  The MANTRY.  Get it!  Got it?  Good!

Think you have what it takes to make your own Mantry?  Do you make an incredible food product?  Mantry would love to hear about it. For any suggestion on products you would like to see in a future Mantry email help@mantry.com .
