Can You Make Friends with a Goose?
I have a penchant for making unusual friends. This stems from me feeling like an outsider, an unusual person in my own right. See, I like being alone! But, when I felt like I should make a friend, I always went to a person who was alone and, more often than not, the person wanted a friend. They just didn’t know how to JOIN in with others. So, it was always a match made in heaven!
In the new HarperCollins children’s book, Goose, Sophie wants a friend more than anything. It seemed like either people at the playground had a friend or there was no one around. That is, until she met Goose! Her mom was not interested in having Goose come to their house, but Sophie found ways to play with Goose on the playground and they were such great friends. That is, until Goose didn’t show up one day. What was Sophie to do?
This is a heartwarming tale of friendship that may look unusual to an outsider. Friends come in all shapes, sizes and – species?! Sure! This is a simple book with a very simple, yet profound concept. Friends are friends no matter how they look or who they are and that is good enough for me and my family.
