Camp Boardgame

Camp is a game where both children & adults can play & learn fun facts about the great outdoors.

Call it beginners luck, but the first time Brooke and I played the Camp Boardgame, she won. Really fast. Granted, she was quite lucky on the die rolls, but she quickly answered most of the level one beginners questions about nature (she mostly got animal questions) so that she advanced quickly. So for any young child that beats their parents at a game, Camp quickly became a favorite in our house and I have since learned why this game has been so popular with families.

While our family loves nature and the outdoors, sometimes it is just as fun to play a board game indoors. Now you can combine the best of both worlds in a fun family game for ages four+ that combines both. Camp is a fun yet simple game that combines four levels of difficulty questions per card depending on the age/ability of each player. Each player has a game piece that they move along the game board by rolling a die and answering questions. There is a compass short-cut card and a campsite card to help or derail you on your quest to get back to camp.

Our almost-kindergartener had no trouble answering the Level 1 multiple choice questions such as naming the animal in a picture or answering where the sun goes after it sets. What I found that was so great is that you only need one person to read the cards since the answers need to be decoded with a special decoder card included in the game. That’s right! No cheating! We quickly realized that we have the most fun when answering the trivia questions, so we started to ask questions even on the spaces where they were not required. There were a few games where if we had not done that, the game would have gone a lot faster. It is quite rare to find a board game that can accompany a wide variety of generations and be fun for all, so this is a definite must for a family with younger and older kids who want to play a game together. I found that even just reading the fun fact cards after the game was enjoyable for all of us. Did you know that a rat can survive without water longer than a camel? Wow!
