Celebrate National Bicycling Month with the Schwinn Biking Game

The Biking Game by Schwinn was created to inspire families and bike enthusiasts to get outside and enjoy one of America’s greatest recreational activities together.

May is National Biking Month!

There are precious few things I like to do more than bike.  As a child, biking was my first glimpse of freedom and I still remember the cut off boundary  for my rides was a street called Summerset.  Around kindergarten or so, I started going on solo bike rides around my neighborhood.  I never went super far, but far enough that it was always an adventure.  Summerset was several blocks away from my house which was in a little village in the hills of Appalachia and we just happened to live on one VERY BIG HILL.  I’m talking a roller coaster of a hill.  Summerset was the very last street before the crazy descent to the valley below.  It was probably a smart choice by my mother considering a little kid trying to pump their bike wheels up that hill would have been a major chore on top of the winding nature of the street without much of a sidewalk.  I probably would have had to camp out at the bottom if I had ever tried to brave the journey then.

Biking is a great escape but also a wonderful way to clear your mind and burn off some energy.  But what if the weather is too wild or family is just in the mood to learn more about bikes?  Have I got the perfect game for you!  And, yes, even if you have MAJOR bike enthusiasts in your family, they should learn something new from this game.  For instance, did you know that 3.2 million Americans bike to work each week?  Did you?

Much like Education Outdoors other famous board game, Camp, the Schwinn Biking Game is a fun family game for ages four+ that is a fun yet simple game that combines four levels of difficulty questions per card depending on the age/ability of each player.  Each player has a game piece (a bike, of course) that they move along the game board by rolling a die and answering questions.  You really only need one person to read the cards since the answers need to be decoded with a special decoder card included in the game.  That’s right!  No cheating!

Game includes:

  • 1 game board
  • 199 game cards(400 questions, and 99 fun facts)
  • 1 decoder
  • 8 game characters
  • 1 die
  • 16 level cards
