Fit Snack: a delicious, healthy box packed with goodness.
Being healthy is the sum of a lot of different elements and I’m trying to get everything to work together. Get enough sleep, eat right, exercise; there is no miracle cure for ‘healthy’, you just have to do it! I have been making some little changes that include more aerobic activity in my life. I feel much healthier when I break a sweat and so far things are going well in that respect. What hasn’t been going as well is my snacking. I can snack on unhealthy foods and skip meals. UGH. Yes, I know that is bad, and when I don’t surround myself with good options, I find myself making excuses for not being healthy.
One of the ways I am trying to change into a more fit person is to have more healthy food options for snacking around the house for myself and my family. We have the healthy meals things down but snacking is definitely our weakness. When I go to the grocery store, I can get overwhelmed with choice and prices that I may not always come out of the store with great purchases. Yup, guilty! I needed some inspiration with food options low in sugar, high in protein, organic and, of course, all natural. I have been hearing about monthly snack food subscriptions from Fit Snack that I had been eyeing for months. Now was a chance to actually try one month and see how it went.
The first thing I noticed about my month Fit Snack box was that it came FAST. Within a few days of getting the box from their website, it arrived at my door. Wow. If you continue to subscribe, the box should arrive around the 20th of each month. The next thing I noticed was that I was expecting about 8 or 9 items in my box, but there was actually several bonus snacks plus additional supplements that were a nice addition. I am all about bonus items! I also really enjoyed the Fit Snack’s informational card that talked about being active and had exclusive workout tips. Yes, this is the kind of information I need to surround myself with right now, so it all was very inspiring.

There were some real winners in this box and a few ‘oks’. I was really excited that the Fit Snacks were a big hit with me and the rest of my family. Getting your almost-five year old to love raw pumpkin seeds is awesome. It was also nice to have breakfast bars because I have a tendency to skip breakfast (yeah, I know! I just don’t feel hungry first thing..) and then in late morning the snack craving starts. By trying to have good options for breakfast that are filling yet ‘light’ made me actually have the ‘most important meal of the day’. OK, so technically not snacking, but still a great benefit I had with this box.
Now the oks: I am a real sweet tooth kind of person and this month’s box was more for a salty snacker. I tried a few times to go through the items I had left when a snacky feeling came over me and there were times when I’d just say, “OK, I’m going to just not snack.” I also couldn’t get into the protein powders and I could have done something about that but didn’t. When I do use powders, I usually add lots of extras like fruits and veggies in a blender to mask the taste (I’m not a powder fan in general, but get by), but I didn’t do that this go around. That would have made a difference.
Overall, I was excited to try some new snack options, get better acquainted with breakfast again and learned that protein powder mix with fruits and veggies will do it for me. Oh, and I definitely snacked healthier and with way less sugar. Score!
