My two little girls are such fun sisters.  Even though Brie is a grabby toddler, Brooke is so very patient with her and the majority of the time they get along great.  Brooke has about 10 nicknames for Brie (Breezy, ‘Livia, etc.) while Brie just calls her sis.  Brooke also has enough imagination for the two of them and Brie will usually find herself right in the middle of one of Brooke’s adventures.  While I have to think this dynamic may change as they get older, at the moment Brie is more than happy to just be included in the fun.

Now Brooke’s usual imagination games are specific to their play location such as when they are;

Outside in the rocks = School house

Bathtub = Water park  

Brie’s Room = Grandparents House and sometimes School again

The living room is also not immune to their play.  When Brooke first started preschool she would roll out all of my yoga mats for her pretend ‘nap time’ at school.  Brie got a kick out of that.  And I got to re-roll my yoga mats a hundred times on a Saturday!  Ha.  I always did it with a laugh.  They were so cute, it was hard to not be amused by their silliness.

In the Waves reflects this very true-to-life scenario of sisters with big imaginations and was written by real-life sisters, Lennon and Maisy Stella, who also happen to be TV stars from the show Nashville.  I laughed out loud at the illustrations of the sisters getting ready for a day at the beach and being silly.  Mom is on her laptop as the girls race by in their bathing suits and swim gear in what looks like a fun day at the beach.  That’s when the fun starts to really happen!  There are pages upon pages of the girls having a blast in the waves, which is adorable in itself.  But then, a surprise twist!  Maybe they aren’t really at the beach after all!?

My girls, especially Brooke, absolutely loved this book and said that the girls were like her and ‘Peazy’ (another Brie nickname.)  I really loved the real photographs of the girls as they are growing up in the back of the book and it reminds me of my two stinkers.  I mean, they aren’t singing at the White House or famous YouTube stars who are now on ABC like the Stellas, but they are two sisters who pretend a lot.  So, in that sense, I guess they could be them!  Love.
