If your family is anything like ours, than you constantly have a missing sock problem. I’m not sure how it happens, but between the laundry basket, washer and dryer; one sock gets ‘lost’. I started to keep a missing sock drawer until I finally gave up hope of ever finding that other infamous missing sock. It is quite maddening! I am quick to realize, though, that while a missing sock problem is a small annoyance to us, it could be a devastating loss to children in need. When I talked to and got involved with the local Mitscoots Socks organization here in Austin, I learned that one of the first things a homeless person will want is just a pair of socks. Socks! I never thought to donate those to shelters or charities and now I am quite aware that there is a huge need right here in North America for people in need of socks, especially children.
Sharing Small is an organization that does monthly sock subscriptions and donations especially for children in North America. It is such a simple yet powerful program that can be a huge source of filling a need while teaching children the importance of community and empathy all at once. For a small price each month, a child who gets a subscription will receive two new pairs of Sharing Small Socks in the mail and for each pair that is sent, Sharing Small will donate a pair to a child in need. Sizing
Sharing Small socks come in 3 different sizes to fit various children ages 2-12, and any adults who have small feet!
Small: Ages 2-4
Medium: Ages 5-8
Large: Ages 9-12
Sharing Small also tracks their monthly donations and keeps subscribers in the loop on the latest donation sites of their socks here on their website. You can easily update your subscription size as your child’s foot size changes and you can cancel at anytime. Sharing Socks will also participate in bulk orders of individual socks for those who are interested if you contact them directly.
