Changing the World through Ethical Fashion

I have a deep love for New Orleans.  In fact, I can tell you exactly when Bob and I decided to become parents.  It was the first week of September in 2009 on a trip to the ‘Big Easy’ and we were in the car looking at Henderson Swamp.  Ha!  We were staying across from Canal on Carondelet and lived it up for a long weekend – you know, being the non-parents we were at the time!  We ate muffulettas at Central Grocery Co, shopped at House of Voodoo, ate at Antoine’s Hermes Bar (to, of course, eat Oysters Rockefeller and Pommes de Terre Souffles) and walked around the Riverwalk until dark to admire the Mississippi River.

Between all the fun of eating fried oyster po-boys and fighting the humidity with my naturally curly hair when my straightener failed, we discussed – I mean, really discussed, having kids.  It was decided.  We wanted to be parents.  Not only that – we picked out a name if we had a girl.  Yes, Brooke was ‘Brooke’ even before she was in existence.  Yet, apparently she was as ready to be born as we were ready to start trying since I found out I was pregnant in November 2009 and announcing it to family before Christmas that year.  It happened that quick.  From New Orleans to parenthood, our life has been quite a whirlwind ever since.

If you follow my blog, you will know that I am trying to upgrade my fashion sense this year that has definitely fallen by the wayside since having our second child.  I have a unique style, want to be comfortable and I like clothing that is made intentionally.  Passion Lilie is a New Orleans based women’s ethical clothing line that gives women in remote villages a unique opportunity to live a dignified life.  Not only that, their new spring dresses are seriously adorable.  Oh, did I tell you I’m really into wearing dresses now?  It’s my new thing.  It’s a million degrees in Austin and it makes it a nice change going back and forth from my usual style (yoga clothes) to feeling like a fashion momma in cute dresses in just minutes.  Let’s just say I am really having fun with this right now.  Passion Lilie’s Peacock Blue Dress is such a must this season for me.  Let me show you why….
