I can’t be the only kid who would pretend to be on stage singing one of my favorite songs, right? We had our own music room complete with vinyl records and even (gasp!) cassettes. At probably age seven, I would sing out loud in our attic while rocking out to lots of tunes and pretend I was famous with hundreds of people cheering me on…and one of those songs happened to be Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere”. “Ohhhh IIIIIIII….I want to be with you everywhere!”, I would sing so loudly that it is a good thing we lived in a small village in the middle of nowhere or else my mom may have gotten a noise violation. Every time I hear that song, it makes me smile and, yes, even sing, so it was so great to hear it in a lovely lullaby, karaoke-esque version for me to share with baby Brie.
Rockabye Baby is basically lullabies directed towards parents yet perfect for kids. I wish I had thought of this brilliant idea first! What Rockabye Baby has essentially done is take our generation’s music and turned it into soothing mellotrons, vibraphones and bells and made them into instrumental children’s songs. Even through all the music changes, the songs are still there at their core and are perfect for your child to sleep to and for the parents to not go crazy hearing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ for the 100th time. It is the perfect compromise for parents of babies who loves music.
