Sometimes I think my getting sleep is as likely as meeting a unicorn. If I get to sleep a little early (rare!), I seem to get up in the middle of the night and not get back to sleep. If I can’t get to sleep when I go to bed, I know it’s going to be me tossing and turning until I do. Then, of course, having two young children in the house and a husband who likes to keep a light on to read until he nods off from sheer exhaustion until we all get up at 5:30 a.m. is enough to wreck anyone’s chance at getting into deep REM sleep each night. Morning has become this deliriously zombified moment where I think I either run on caffeine or sheer hypnosis from a semi-schedule.
