Pebble products are Fair Trade and made entirely by hand. Kahiniwalla is the distributor of Pebble in the United States. Kahiniwalla means storyteller and it their mission to not only sell Pebble’s fantastic products but to tell the story behind the product. So what is Kahiniwalla’s story?
After returning home after working in Bangladesh, Austin and Marita Miller decided they wanted to help the company and employees of Hathay Bunano p.s. (the makers of Pebble) whom they encountered while there. Austin was amazed at the handmade products and the operation of some 5,000 women. Many rural women are not able to find work close to home or find flexible working hours and Pebble continues to grow as their brand is established and marketed. The high quality of their handmade products (from toys to these adorable hats) are quite beautiful and to know that this entrepreneurial group of women are making a difference to help other women escape unjust and sometimes violent situations is important. Can you think of a better story than that?
