So this year is designated as Ancient Egypt for Brie’s birthday.  As you probably know, we are doing the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World for her first seven birthdays.  Last year was Greece and this year is Egypt.

Egyptian culture boasts five millennia of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest and greatest civilizations during which the Egyptians maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe, the Near East and Africa. After the Pharaonic era, the Egyptians themselves came under the influence of Hellenism, Christianity and Islamic culture. Today, many aspects of ancient Egyptian culture exist in interaction with newer elements, including the influence of modern Western culture, itself influenced by Ancient Egypt. (Cite: wikipedia.com)

Egypt. We started down the path exploring Egypt as one of the countries that have the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World (the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Lighthouse of Alexandria.) But, Egypt is not a far and distant culture or land, in fact it is estimated there are approximately 82.2 MILLION Egyptians who live on Earth, most of whom are centralized in Egypt. The recorded history of Egypt started in the 1700s and their dialect centers on Arabic.

It’s SO nice when little figures come in their own tube or TOOB, like Safari Ltd.’s Ancient Egypt set.  It includes a lot of awesome educational pieces to discuss Ancient Egypt and, who knows, maybe you will learn something, too.  Here is what is included in the TOOB:
