Grandma, Aren’t You Glad the World’s Finally in Color Today! (Hardcover)

2014 Honors Winner of the National Parenting Publications Award (NAPPA)

“Grandma, Aren’t You Glad the World’s Finally in Color Today!” is a rhyming picture book that takes children and their families on a ‘then and now’ journey through time.  And…it’s ADORABLE.

My Grandma Chapman and I were friends.  By friends, I mean, we played games and watched movies.  We both were not big ‘talkers’ (at least until I was in college), so we played card games like Touring and watched Shirley Temple movies.  She was my favorite.  I was never under the impression that because TV was black and white that the world did not have color.  It never occurred to me.  But, the title of this book made me laugh because there is SO much I don’t know about her although I’ve known her my entire life.  And…I want to!  This is a great book at a look into our lives and how things have changed around us.

This book is SO easy to read and lots of fun.  It’s especially great to read with my preschooler who asks a BILLION questions about life ‘back in the olden days’, as she likes to say.  Ha!  If you really think about it, life goes fast and we are just a BLIP in time, but oh how much has happened in the last 70 years.  WOW.

I recommend this to any parents with small kids around my age.  You will not be disappointed.  You will be FASCINATED.  Love you, Grandma!
