The Peculiar Tales of the SS Bungalow (CD, All Ages)
Set Sail with a Portland-based crew on ‘The Peculiar Voyage of the S.S. Bungalow’
How did I get from Appalachia to where I am now? It wasn’t an easy road. BUT, you can thank the United States Coast Guard in Portland Oregon for giving a shot at a term appointment to a 20-year old Econ Bachelor’s degree graduate for that! Yes, I did work (as a civilian) for the USGS on Swan Island in Portland. It was perfect. I grew up on two rivers and the Williamette (Will-Am-It for those not in the ‘know’) River was like home. Sure, I took four buses to get there (anyone in Portland knows that SE 181 St is not the best area to live, but what I could afford as a person with only two suitcases to my name and no money.) My obsession with water is so intense that I dream about swimming, jumping into rivers and kayaking like I used to (before this back issue.)
Let’s see….how can I explain this album to the non-nautical types…. Have you ever been to Pike’s Place Market in Seattle? Watched shrimpers in New Orleans? Or just read a book like Moby Dick? Well, let’s listen and read from there!
There’s Something Strange in These Waters!
As Lily from Sprout (Pre-K TV Station would say) SEA TREASURE! The Peculiar Tales of the S.S. Bungalow is a a FULL 2-Disc Set of 80 minutes of many sea-faring stories full of voice-over actors, sound design, underscoring and foot tapping folk music throughout. Oh yeah! The captain and crew travel their way to the mysterious place called Lullaby Islands and songs such as a SLEEPY captain (uh oh!) and his crew provide a rich story of the sea faring kind. ARGHHHH!
