Bee’s Wrap™ is the perfect alternative to plastic wrap for food storage!

I try and try to be a better friend to the environment, but I’m no stranger to plastic wrap when our glass storage containers are all ummmmm…well, full.  Momma needs to clean out the fridge!  So when I heard about the Bee’s Wraps created by mom Sarah Kaeck that is environmentally friendly and can be used over and over, I was like – WHA-?  Tell me more!  They have a great ‘first set’ for us beginners that includes 3 wraps- 1 small (7″x8″), 1 medium (10″x11″), 1 large (13″x14″).  Perfecto!

First, the storage wraps are made with a combination of fabric infused with beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin made for the perfect alternative to plastic for food storage.  The antibacterial properties of beeswax and jojoba oil help keep food fresh and allow Bee’s Wrap to be used again and again and AGAIN.  YES!  But, there HAS to be a catch, right?  SOOOO – Let’s talk to Sarah and find out!

Q&A with Bee’s Wrap creator, Sarah Kaeck!

1.  How often do you replace your wraps?  Once a year, etc?  Bee’s Wrap lasts about a year with regular usage- 2-3 times a week and with proper care.

2.  Is it easy to recycle when done?  Yes, Bee’s Wrap is compostable.  Throw it in your composter or compost pile.  If you don’t compost at your home, many cities are starting community composting systems.

3. The proper care seems time consuming, is it really a simple process or just something to get used to, esp the ironing?  I never iron!  Ha.  It is that simple.  Just wash or rinse in cool water, use a little dish soap if necessary hang to dry, then fold and store in a drawer or basket on the counter.  It is just as easy as using glass containers.

4.  I read on the website that this is an old fashioned way to keep food stored, but this looks like a new recipe you created.  What kinds of past storage items did you look to in order to create Bee’s Wraps?  “Old fashioned” refers to the use of beeswax and cloth for food storage, mostly for wrapping cheese.  We have not actually seen this exact application.

So there you go!  Any questions I didn’t ask you can probably find the answer to here on Sarah’s website.  She is also very quick to answer.  At least, at this time before this product goes viral.  Ha ha!

NOTE!  Bee’s Wraps are NOT recommended for meat.
