Key Wilde and Mr. Clarke ‘Animal Tales’ CD (All Ages)
Parents’ Choice GOLD Award Winning Duo latest Album
We don’t get SiriusXM in our car, so the Key Wilde and Mr. Clarke’s Kids Place Live (as well as their radio show on WXPN FM) was new to my family. I listened with Brooke without reading anything about it – so it was fun. I heard a lot of different songs, some more Americana, some more SKA and even PUNK! But, the coolest thing is that there is a lot of factual information on different animal species. I was actually sort of surprised (as a former Fish & Wildlife employee) that the Alligator song talks about those who use alligators (illegally) for their skin. Interesting for a kid’s song! Ha. I also detected an Australian or UK accent (I know, I have a hard time with them…ugh) and the song about the Armadillo is so Texas I thought to myself – is a Texan and an Australian writing this album together?
The answer, in short is YES!
This is the duo’s FOURTH album and Mr. Wilde grew up in Texas, is a father of two and is noted for his famous illustrations. Mr. Clarke is from the U.K. (so NOT Australia – or even close), grew up in France and is now a New Yorker who also happens to be a high school science teacher and special education teacher. WOW.
Brooke’s Take: Our oldest has a rich history of music from our household. She grooved and moved to most songs on this album, but ESPECIALLY Katy the Caterpillar who becomes a BUTTERFLY! The stories are funny, entertaining and educational. I love that she can learn the lyrics and more about animals in this very interesting album. Very cool.
