Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day September 19, 2014!
As I wrote in my blog post the last few years, our family celebrates International ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’. Yes, it is a REAL ‘holiday’. Aye, there is even a website dedicated to the day and gives you ways to use the correct pirate lingo (check it out here.) So, OF COURSE, I had to review P is for Pirate, one of the new alphabet books from Sleeping Bear Press and she is quite a beauty! ARRRRGH!
P is for Pirate is not just a light-hearted read on pirates and the alphabet. Oh no! It’s much more than that. The author goes into historic detail of actual pirates and their difficult yet adventurous life. Like, did you know there were specific codes of conduct on a pirate ship? Aye, matey. It’s not all plundering and pillaging. So will ye be reading this book, ye scurvy dogs? Pirate Frances the Infected recommends!
