Paddington Bear Books Campaign for Kids (HarperCollins Children’s Books)
A Literary Classic Read and Discover Before the Movie Release!
I love Paddington Bear. Well, I used to love Paddington Bear. See, I thought I knew everything about him until I started this review. Then I was like, ‘wait, what? He’s from England, right? No?’ OK, so then I thought I needed to research (which I obviously did) and – I decided I loved Paddington Bear even more. I mean, he’s been around for over 50 years, there is something in Paddington that makes us love him. And, I want to share with you some of the reasons why:
- Paddington is an ADVENTURER! He left from Darkest Peru to immigrate to England with nothing but a suitcase and of course that darn marmalade.
- Paddington breaks the law! To kids, this is exciting! To us adults, not so much, but hey, it’s a kid’s book. Not only is Paddington an illegal stowaway not to mention owning nothing but a suitcase he has to rely on the kindness of others (or his own wits) to make it.
- Paddington wants someone to take care of him! Kids relate to that. They see Paddington Bear as a child who needs a family. It’s adorable. And that sign around his neck reading, “PLEASE LOOK AFTER THIS BEAR. THANK YOU.” So cute to kiddos. Yup.
So, there you have it! My very tongue-in-cheek synopsis of our love of Paddington. A criminal illegal immigrant who needs help. No wonder we love him so! *sly wink*
So let’s get down to the real review. Why do people care about Paddington Bear so much at this very moment?! You will start hearing Paddington Bear this and that and you’ll say; Momma’s Bacon already told me! Ha! OK, maybe not…but here we go:
- Harperscollins Children’s Books is launching a Paddington Bear Publishing Program in the U.S. Like right now!
- A first-ever live action Paddington Bear movie is coming to the US (Nicole Kidman, Hugh Bonneville and Ben Whishaw who voices Paddington) on Christmas Day 2014
- Paddington is COOL. (OK, I had to throw in my opinion here – ha)
Here are just a handful of some of the new releases from HarpersCollins Children’s books that we are enjoying (so for smaller kiddos):
- Paddington Bear Goes to the Market (Board Book)
- Paddington Bear All Day (Board Book)
- Paddington Bear (New Release)
- The Paddington Treasury
And this is just the tip of the iceberg, folks! Paddington Bear has some great stories for tween, teens and the young at heart but older in age (35 ahem) like me. Want to jump on this bandwagon, too? Check out HarpersCollins Children’s website and (like me) check around for deals. I heart Amazon for that. Oh, and now I REALLY want some marmalade.
