Gustafer Yellowgold’s Wisdom Tooth—– OUCH!
That was as far as I got as I read the latest kid’s review CD and felt my own tooth pain. See, I recently broke a tooth. Like, it was in THREE places BROKEN. Yeah, ouch. Worst thing? They (the multiple dentists who work in my dentist’s office) couldn’t fix it right away. My dentist put some temp stuff on it and I saw an endodontic, who said – UGH! Nope. Can’t FIX – Back to my dentist – who then sent me to another oral surgeon specialist to extract and post a new tooth into it. It was quite a LONG nightmare. So OUCH – no tooth stuff.
But – it’s Gutsafer Yellowgold! We love him, remember (see shameless plug for my old review post here) so keep reading, Momma…..okay (deep sighs and moments of Zen! AHHHHH)
Gustafer Yellowgold’s Wisdom Tooth of WISDOM? Interesting. Strange fact: I have half my wisdom teeth. The other ones just never grew. How smart does that make me?
OK – tooth pain is distracting me, back to Gustafer.
So what mystical fantastical journey is Mr. Yellowgold taking this time? What lovely melty music will he make to make me want to go watch Yellow Submarine and The Wall all at once? Maybe this is the Novocaine talking (I have been to the dentist A LOT lately), but Gustafer once again takes me on an interesting trip that may just make me forget about my own tooth of, well, DEFINITELY not wisdom……
Our Thoughts! Brooke says this album is most definitely mellow. I have to agree. While the label suggests a more alternative pop/rock album, Gustafer (especially when you watch the DVD) feels like I am steepping back in time with an almost 60s vibe. I really dig it. While all Gustsfer’s albums tell a grand story (finding truth, etc.) this album is particularly upbeat and mellow at the same time. It’s interesting. Gustafar also brings in an interesting cast of musical characters to add such flair to the album. My fav? Morgan Taylor! He’s an Ohioan that is well known for his songwriting and being an awesome sound technician. Being an Ohioan, I knew of his work with his local bands like Guided by Voices and The Breeders, but he has a very interesting catalog himself. Even IF a tooth can’t get you wisdom, Gustafer’s journey is one filled with great learning experiences and life lessons. Maybe those extra teeth aren’t so great after all!
