The Most Magnificient Thing (Hardcover, Ages 3-7)

Beautiful Story About Not Giving Up

Do you ever feel like a weeble-wobble in life?  You know…

“Weebles Wobble But They Don’t Fall Down”

Weebles

I’ve been there.  Many times.  One particular event can knock the wind out of my sails.  Frustration sets in..and I’ve learned to go down one of TWO roads:

1.  Keep Going.  I reflect.  Is the frustration worth it?  Can I ultimately overcome?  What do I see as the outcome?  Etc., etc…

2.  Let it Slide.  Some things are too hard at that moment in time.  I may not ‘give up’ entirely, but realize that ‘at that time’ I have to let that ‘thing’ (whatever it is) go.

And…..I’ve sort of taught a similar approach to Brooke.  Well, teaching…  It’s a hard thing for an adult to do and a preschooler learning self-control can have their moments.  So, what to do?  Well, a good book on the concept of frustration and achievement for her age group is awesome!  It does help and I have a great one.  It is called The Most Magnificent Thing.

The Magnificent Thing revolves around a little girl’s desire to BUILD A SPECIAL MAGIFICIENT OBJECT!  That is all she is focused on and sets about her work of design and creativity.  It isn’t going according to plan.  HER PLAN.  GRRRRR!  What to do?  What to do?

This is an AWESOME book for preschoolers and for anyone who needs a little nudging to finish a difficult project and to focus on outcomes versus roadblocks.  Excellent read!
