Micronations: Invent Your Own Country and Culture with 25 Projects (Paperback, Age 9+)

Nomad’s ‘Build It Yourself’ Series!

Want to teach your kids all about the structure of government?  I do, I do!  I’m a not-so-secret Economics junkie who is (mildly?) obsessed with learning our country’s government history as well as on a macro level.  I’m also a proud civil servant as were my parents and I am a proud wife of a US Army Veteran.  This book was for me as much as it was for my daughter.  I love learning in an easy-to-read format and sometimes even I learn a thing or two from Nomad’s ‘Build It Yourself’ Series!

Think you could make your own country and culture?  It’s not as easy as you think!  The 25 fun projects in this book not only help children learn about why rules and regulations are important in a society, it also shows them how they can be created.  Brilliant!

Micronations: Invent Your Own Country and Culture will engage kids’ imagination and teach make-believe rulers how the real world works.”

Want to rule your empire ?  Here you can!  Micronations are imaginary countries that have a lot of the same things as real ones: laws, customs, history—even their own flags, coins, and postage stamps. This book is a step-by-step process for kids to invent their own nation

What makes a country a country?

We deal with symbols, systems, government, technology, the environment, and our general culture on a DAILY basis.  It is actually quite amazing we can even make a country WORK if you think of it on such a massive scale.  Project include create authentic-looking artifacts and documents such as maps, currency, passports, a declaration of independence, and a constitution.  You can even create your own language.  ZARB (that means ‘cool’ in our country.)  This is a fun and cool way for kids 9 and up to get a taste of how it really might feel to be a leader.

Did you know?  On June 22, 1870, the U.S. Justice Department was created with a bill signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant.

Grant

The U.S. Justice Department maintains the office of the Attorney General and also oversees several law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Why is this important?  The Justice Department makes sure that our country’s laws are upheld for every citizen. (Cite: Nomad Press Inquirer)
