Spanish Theme Birthday Party with Little Passports Monthly Explorer Kits (Pre-K+)

Inspire Your Child to Learn About the World

I have been excited about the company Little Passports for years (see my many past reviews) and I think the founders have a great idea to help inspire children to learn about the world outside of their own country in a very unique way.  Join characters Sam and Sofia as they travel the world each month and share their adventures through the mail with your child.  Little Passports monthly shipments incorporate the element of anticipation and surprise for children by sending monthly travel packages through the mail (think pen pals that send you gifts!) with different learning tools on other countries to help facilitate learning.  In addition to the first month’s initial Explorer Kit, Little Passports have 23 separate monthly mailing available for the following countries; Antarctica, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, England, France, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and Turkey!

Not only are Explorer Kits of excellent quality and I find the monthly pen pal letters with goodies a very inspiring way for our young ones to learn about other countries.  We also found it was a great educational tool to continue our learning on various countries and right now our household theme is ‘Spain’.  I HAVE RUN WITH THIS THEME!  Not only have I visited Spain (my third country I ever stepped foot in as a teen), I used to live in Malaga, Spain for a semester abroad language program.  There is a special place in my heart of all things España, so — first a chuckle –

Spain 1Spain 2 My very first visit to Spain commemorated in my photo album with brilliant notes like, “Me in Some Castle in Spain!  Cool!”

I decided to incorporate our learning from Little Passports and my own somewhat creative flair for party designs and I am very happy with the results.  We live in a rental so I am also including some great tips and tricks who are renting or don’t want to do permanent damage to walls.  Enjoy!

photo 1  Vinyl Stickers on the wall is the PERFECT way to design a party for a rental house.  Easily to get off the walls and it leaves NO MARKS!

photo 2  We use lots of pictures and temporary hangers from company’s like 3M to not add permanent holes in the walls.  Flags for country parties are a MUST!  They are inexpensive and you can get them in tons of sizes.

Now for the Little Passports Part since we were able to incorporate items from their Spain Monthly Explorer Kit into Brooke’s Birthday Plans!

First Month’s Explorer Kit includes:

  • Travel suitcase with an introductory letter from Sofia and Sam (includes an adorable picture of them ready to leave on their scooter)
  • World wall map that is a very nice large size to help track their travels
  • Travel passport (same size as a real passport and a place to put your sticker and personal information)
  • Stickers
  • Activity sheet that includes finding flags from different countries
  • Boarding Pass that includes access codes to Little Passports online games and activities

For each following month of your subscription, your child will receive the following items:

  • A letter from Sam and Sofia describing their different in-country adventures (See Sample Letter)

Brooke LOVED the Spain theme!

We learned how to make paella, about Spanish soccer or ‘futbol’, the different regions of España (particularly the southern portion of Andalucía) and danced the flamenco with our castanets!  Brilliant!  As you can see, we love to take our Little Passport boxes and create an entire fun country theme that lasts well past the month, so don’t feel limited to just a monthly new celebration.  Some festivals like San Fermin in Spain, are ones that should be celebrated for more than a day or two!  We have been celebrating Spain for over two months now and keep finding ways of incorporating it into our lives.  In fact, we are using elements of what you see here for Brooke’s birthday party and goody packages for party goers, so there are so many ways to incorporate Little Passports into your cultural learning with your family and friends.  As always, highly recommended!
