Poppy Cat: Birthday Treasure and other Adventures [DVD] (All Ages)

If your kids are Sproutlets (what the TV network Sprout calls their Pre-K+ viewers) then you are probably familiar with Poppy Cat. On many hectic weeknights, we eat dinner together as a family, clean the kitchen and then bathroom before a quick Goodnight Show on Sprout where we sometimes watch Poppy Cat or Kipper before watching an awesome wind-down time before Pajamanals that we DVR since her bedtime is slightly earlier. I tell you, it almost always works. She gets ready, brushes her teeth and is ready for bed. Sigh.

The cool thing about Poppy Cat is created by the same people who made “Olivia” and “Mr. Men and Little Miss”! Wow! As with many children’s cartoons, they are usually based on children’s books and Poppy Cat is no exception. Created by children’s author, Lara Jones, the Poppy Cat books were so popular over the pond that a cartoon was inevitable. Since it has become part of the Sprout TV network for preschoolers (it plays many times a day, but we only watch on the Goodnight nighttime show.)

This 80-minute DVD features seven episodes, so one episode is perfect for her TV viewing time at one sitting. The characters are all different animal species who learn to make things and play together. Their adventures are exciting, imaginative and Poppy Cat is the little leader of her little band of friends who find lots of cool discoveries about life through quite remarkable situations. It is a prefect pre-k DVD!
