Snail – Peek-a-Boo Puppet (Perfect for Babies!)
Creating a unique collection of products that are intricately crafted and environmentally responsible
I am finding myself playing peek-a-boo a lot with Brie right now.
The Importance of Peek-A-Boo
I am sure you are probably quite familiar with the game peek-a-boo (basic technique: catch your babies attention, ‘hide’ behind your hands and shout ‘peek-a-boo’ when you reveal your face to your child!) which has generally been a game parents begin to play with their babies and studies that show the benefits of it from as early as four months! Wow! Children as young as four months are already quite good at reading certain body languages and gestures and are beginning to make all sorts of cool brain connections including the idea of object permanence. Children around six months can start trying to join in on the game and will laugh as they are also developing quite a little sense of humor, too! While I have done things like flip-books which imitate peek-a-boo techniques, I’ve never had a peek-a-boo toy to use with my babies like this, until now!
Cate and Levi Peek-A-Boo Hand Puppets
All Cate and Levi wool toys are hand made and we love their adorable peek-a-boo collection which is awesome for baby Brie. The toys are ALL homemade and no two toys are identical with each having a unique color combination. The size of the peek-a-boo puppet snail is approximately 10” tall. I had a blast operating the snails large eyes in this hand puppet and Brie squealed with delight over and over. Very cool!
How to Operate the Peek-a-Boo puppet!
- Insert your hand into the puppet with your pinky and index fingers extended
- Let your imagination run wild
- Made of reclaimed wool, each puppet contains a tube insert for easy shelf display when not in use
Now, you would think that the element of surprise gets old after some time…but not with babies! Babies like Brie eat this stuff up. Even though she seems to know exactly what is coming (oh look – the snail is , oh yes, -wait for it – still there!), her peek-a-boo puppet is like a pretend new toy with each use. In this day and age, that counts for a lot. Love it.
