Beluvv Guardian Tracking Device

A kid-friendly device for family members to protect kids together.

One of the first times that all four of us ventured out together as a family after Brie was born was to our local children’s museum right before Christmas.  Papa was in town and with us and we were meeting our friends to decorate gingerbread houses.  Brooke had been at the new museum several times before and knew where everything was so when Bob and I were swimming through a sea of holiday people with our new tiny baby; Brooke made a run for it.  Almost immediately, the three of us adults split up to different corners of the museum to quickly locate the escapee who had ‘just wanted to go play in the dark room.’  While Brooke is noticeably acting more grown-up by the day and is pretty good about sticking close to us and holding hands in public, she is still a very rambunctious preschooler who gets easily distracted and excited.  The whole thing was so quick-in real time- yet so traumatizing for Bob and I that I only half joking said she needs a tracking device.  Well, I’m no longer joking when I say that the Beluvv Guardian has put my mind at ease by tracking our daughter while out!

The Beluvv Guardian is a silicone bracelet for kids that has a tracking device that links up through an app that you upload on your cell phone (must be an iPhone 4S and up.)  Here is something that I think must happen in order to makes this product a great tool: your kid has to wear it!  This may seem like a d’uh moment, but when you are dealing with preschoolers, you have to have a lot of controls in place to prevent total chaos!  It just happens to work out for us that Brooke loves jewelry and likes to wear the bracelet while we venture out into the world.  Score!  If you are concerned your child will yank it off -which they would have to be very strong to do it, but you never know-, I would suggest making the bracelet seem like such a fun thing for your kid before you even try it out.  We tell Brooke it is her ‘going out’ bracelet to get her excited about wearing the Guardian.

I had wondered how I would feel about having a tracking device on my kid and it really was not that big of deal.  We pretty much have tracking devices on us all the time if we carry cell phones, anyway!  Plus, the bracelet is in a nice style and looks cute on Brooke so that helps.  Unless someone told you, you would never know it has a tracking device in it!  I haven’t had to use the device in action yet – thank goodness – but I have peace of mind that if, heaven forbid, I do, I will locate Brooke very quickly.  I’m not quite sure how long we plan to use it (college?  Ha!), but it is nice to have it now until we can put this whole darting thing past us!  Bracelet colors are available in turquoise, gray and pink.

BeLuvv is derived from the words “be loved.”
