The New York Post calls Bari Koral “The Sheryl Crow for kids.” *Ears perked*
This may be a little known secret – I have a big weakness for Sheryl Crow music. I call it my ‘high school years music weakness’. Many songs that I heard between the ages of 14-18 will always hold a special place in my heart. As a wanna-be singer-songwriter and guitarist, Sheryl Crow’s easy style and her role model as a female musician spoke to me as a young teen. That’s what I wanted to do! And do it as a job?! WOW! Plus, who could not know the song “All I Wanna Do” a huge hit in fall of 1994 if you lived in the United States and were older than three? When someone calls a musician “The Sheryl Crow for kids”, I take notice. I had an opportunity to listen and review lots of music, so I take this selection process very seriously and I found a winner with Bari’s new album “The Apple Tree & The Honey Bee.”
Bari Koral’s album “The Apple Tree & The Honey Bee” has adorable lyrics, upbeat rhythms and Bari’s clear crisp voice singing songs my preschooler loves. I do think the Sheryl Crow comparison is a fair assessment especially on the song When I’m Five. When I’m Five is probably our favorite song that talks about what a child is going to do when they are five! You know, they are so much older at five, parents. Bob and I get a kick of it while Brooke seems to be thinking that at five, things are going to be pretty great. Another great song is Give a Hug which is a great music and movement song. Highly recommended!
Here’s some lyrics from our favorite song, When I’m Five:
“And I just may stay up past nine o’clock
telling all my stories in the dark
When I’m five!”
