My oldest has been playing with my technology and trying to use my Android cell phone for a long time. I am becoming the out-of-date person (not that I was ever in date…) in the technology world and I am fine to let my daughter figure things out as long as there are parental controls on the device in place (which, thankfully, my husband understands and sets up.) One of the most fun we have had recently is with the Quick Attach Microscope. The microscope attaches to iPhones, iPods, iPads or Androids to turn your touch screen into a 30x magnifying lens. It is fascinating for Brooke to see things, like hair, on a microscopic scale! You can even capture photos or videos magnified with the camera capabilities. How cool is that? There are a lot of things you may overlook in the world and I like that my daughter is interested in understanding that just because something is small -even microscope- does not mean it is not important.
Note: There may be certain types of cell phones where the location of the camera on the phone may make it hard to attach. Bob’s cell phone camera (also an Android) is far down on his phone and he had adjustment issues with the microscope but my cell works well (I do have to take the case off my cell for the best fit.) Unfortunately, I could not find a specific list to say which cell phone sizes work best, so check the specs before purchase! (Update: I recently switched to an iPhone after I wrote this review and was able to use the Quick Attach Microscope although I did have to take off the case to use it.)
