I was stuck for two weeks in Muskogee, Oklahoma for work last year during the winter when I was in my first trimester with our youngest daughter and extremely sick with morning – no – all day sickness. Luckily, I always travel with my Kindle Fire and am a Prime Member, so I got a lot of ‘free’ books and biographies to watch that weekend in my hotel room. I have always had a fascination with presidential families and Eleanor was no different. However, Eleanor was different and that movie changed my perception of her forever. She screamed individualism as well as our obligations to ourselves and the need to empower others. She went to places no one went – to see things no one wanted to see- to give voice to what no one could say. I dug it. I want my daughters to get it. I want them to read and know about the greats of history who did not only dare to dream, but they dared to act.
